Matt Kuntz is the Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness for Montana (NAMI Montana). He has seen the important role Medicaid has played in dramatically improving access to mental health care and addiction treatment services for Montanans. Under the current Montana Medicaid program, funding for substance use disorder (SUD) has increased five-fold, the number of state-authorized SUD treatment providers has doubled and major funding for ongoing mental health treatment was secured and approved by the legislature. Changing Montana’s Medicaid program puts communities across the state at risk of losing these vital services.
